When inspectors visit, they follow a structured four-point CUFF check. Failure on any point can result in an enforcement notice — or prosecution under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005.
Condition
Is the PPE in good shape? Inspectors check for cracks, worn foam, and degraded seals — all of which destroy real-world attenuation.
Use
Is it worn correctly at all times in the noise zone? Workers removing protection even briefly is a common enforcement trigger.
Fit
Does it actually fit the individual? Poor fit from certified earplugs can mean near-zero real protection. Individual fit testing is the only proof.
Fit for Purpose
Has the correct protection level been selected? Both under- and over-protection are enforcement issues. Target: 75–80 dB at the ear.

The invisible risk your workers may already be breathing in
Silica dust is generated whenever concrete, brick, stone, or ceramics are cut, drilled, or ground. The particles are up to 100 times smaller than a grain of sand — invisible, but able to penetrate deep into the lungs causing permanent, irreversible damage.
