What's the difference between sealed (2RS) and shielded (2Z) bearings?

Sealed bearings (2RS) use rubber contact seals that retain grease and block contaminants — ideal for dusty or wet environments. Shielded bearings (2Z) use metal shields with lower friction but less protection against fine dust. For most industrial applications 2RS is the safer choice.

Which internal clearance should I choose — C2, C3 or C4?

C3 is the most common clearance for general industrial use as it allows for thermal expansion. C2 is tighter for precision applications, while C4 suits high-speed or high-temperature setups. If you are unsure, C3 is the safe default.

What are the most common causes of premature bearing failure?
